First Year

  • Course load of 60-70 ECTS

  • Around 15 ECTS / quarter

  • At least 90 % of the courses passed to start the second year

Second Year

  • Literature Study

    Composed by the student colloquia attendance (1 ECTS), Literature & Introduction Colloquium (2 ECTS) and Literature Survey (10 ECTS).

  • ME-VE Thesis

    Master thesis accounting for 47 or 32 ECTS in the case an internship is done. It is recommended to align the internship with the thesis topic to avoiding extending the graduation date.

  • Internship

    Optional internship to be arranged personally or through a proffessor, accounting for 15 ECTS, which translates to approximately 3 months working.

Mechanical Engineering Courses

  • Advanced Heat Transfer

    In-depth course about heat transfer in an engineering context: conduction convection and radiation.

  • Nonlinear Mechanics

    Engineering mechanics, including nonlinearities in statics and dynamics.

  • Physics and Measurement

    Fundamental aspects of physics and measurement, emphasized on fields, momentum, force, energy, conservation, wave motion, electrical currents and models.

  • Control System Design

    Theoretical concepts of systems theory and feedback control design, practical applications and relation with specialised systems.

Vehicle Engineering Courses

  • Intelligent Vehicles

    The technology of automated driving: levels of automation, adas systems, main technological components of an automated vehicle.

  • Vehicle Dynamics

    Fundamental knowledge on vehicle motion, dynamics and vehicle-road interaction. Vehicle construction and standard testing procedures.

  • Automotive Human Factors

    Human factors in vehicle engineering, focussed on interaction with automated and supported vehicles.

Master Track 2019/20

Mechanical Engineering Courses

  • Physics for Mechanical Engineers

    Fundamental aspects of physics, emphasized on fields, momentum, force, energy, conservation, wave motion and electrical currents.

  • Measurement Technology

    Design of measurements scheme and signal conditioning. Obtain the knowledge to evaluate accuracy, sensitivity, spatial and temporal resolution.

Nonlinear Mechanics

Engineering mechanics, including nonlinearities in statics and dynamics.

  • Control System Design

  • Advanced Fluid Dynamics

    Topics include control volume analysis for mass and momentum, the derivation of Navier-Stokes equations, boundary conditions at different interfaces, dimensional analysis, classical instabilities and waves.

  • Drive and Energy Systems

    Basics of electric circuits and electricity and magnetism. Proper knowledge of mathematics (differential equations, complex numbers) and mechanics is required.

Entrepreneurship

  • Students can choose electives from a wide variety of Sustainability related courses at TU Delft or at other universities.

  • The program trains you to gain entrepreneurial skills and knowledge to explore new technology-based business opportunities. It combines a set of courses (>15ECTS) and an additional thesis part (5ECTS) to the main graduation project.
